Star Force
Saw this on Game Center CX and thought it looked great, so I picked it up at my local retro store and spent two days playing it. I enjoyed every minute of it, however, I still have yet to beat it.

A two button shooter that moves quickly. B button shoots to your left, A button to the right, no simultaneous, which makes for some interesting rhythms late in the game.
A Space Shooter for 2 bucks!
Having played this more now, the game makes a weak first impression. It really gets going in the later stages though and makes for some fun shmup action. It is by no means a bullet hell, though there are some enemy attacks that approach such. The megaman analogy is even more apt now, because I have several different special weapons that I gained from bosses, and I must equip and use them appropriately.
I have not posted much lately because I have been playing a lot of popular games from the past such as Zelda on SNES and Ninja Gaiden series on NES. But I did recently start playing this.
Platypus is a strange shooter on PSP. There is a not a whole lot to set it apart from other shooters except for its very interesting style. It looks like faux claymation. Sort of like the old Clayfighters games. So far it is fun, but not as great as a Gradius or LifeForce.
And speaking of Life Force, I finally got the Life Force collection for PSP. It is an import game and it took me a couple of seconds to figure out how to insert a virtual coin for the earlier games, but once I did it was just like the grand old days of NES all over again, but now with 100% more Japanese.
I got a shooter for the wii yesterday. Castle of Shikigami III is a bullet hell type shooter, similar to Ikaruga but not nearly as innovative. It is not too challenging but still pretty fun. It has a slight bit of story for each character and there are several to choose from. Each character has a different type of attack so it does make it interesting and fun enough to replay a few times.
Just for insanity sake I got both of my wii controllers and held them together, trying to play two player simultaneous. It was extremely fun but hard. This game was only $10 new at Gamestop.
